Getting Started With Ledger Live Desktop

Step 1: Connect Your Ledger Device

After launching Ledger Live, plug in your Ledger Nano X or Nano S Plus. You’ll be asked to:

  • Create a PIN code (if it’s your first time)
  • Write down your 24-word recovery phrase
  • Verify your device integrity

Step 2: Install Apps for Your Crypto Assets

From the “Manager” tab, install the necessary apps for the cryptocurrencies you want to manage—such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, or Solana. Each app is installed directly on your Ledger device for secure key management.

Step 3: Add Accounts and Start Transacting

Add individual accounts for each crypto asset. Once added, you can begin receiving crypto, sending it to other addresses, and tracking all your transactions—right from your computer.

Why Choose Ledger Live Desktop?

Industry-Leading Security

Ledger Live Desktop works only in combination with a Ledger hardware wallet. This means your private keys are never exposed to the internet or stored on your PC. Every transaction must be confirmed on the physical device.

All-in-One Dashboard

Instead of using multiple apps or browser extensions, Ledger Live Desktop provides a single, integrated platform to manage all your crypto needs:

  • Wallet balances
  • Exchange integrations
  • NFT management
  • Token swaps
  • Real-time value tracking

User Privacy

Ledger does not store or access your personal data. All data remains local on your device, giving you maximum privacy and control.

Advanced Features

  • Staking: Stake popular coins like Ethereum (ETH), Polkadot (DOT), and Tezos (XTZ) directly from the app.
  • NFTs: View, send, and receive NFTs on Ethereum and Polygon.
  • DeFi Access: Use WalletConnect to interact with dApps and DeFi protocols with full hardware wallet protection.
  • Customization: Set account nicknames, hide small balances, and export portfolio data.

Ledger Live Desktop is perfect for:

  • Long-term investors managing large portfolios
  • Crypto enthusiasts who prefer desktop environments
